Sunrise/Sunset

In the Northern Hemisphere, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Why?
Is this the same in the Southern Hemisphere?

We did research on the Northern Hemisphere sunrises and sunsets.

Catherine, Thushara, Thomas, and Jasmine created this slideshare to show what they learned about sunrises and sunsets in the Northern Hemisphere.

In Moturoa, New Zealand we know that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

Tegen drew this picture to help you understand. In New Zealand the sun is always in the northern sky. That is why there is more moss on the south side of trees- it is shadier and wetter on the south side.

Miss K took this photo of a Nelson sunset at Tahunanui Beach.

Can you work out what direction she was looking?
